When we talk about nervous colitis immediately we think that it occurs because the person is nervous, but this is not the case. “Rather it is an alteration of the nerves of the colon, which causes it to become inflamed and all other symptoms of this syndrome are derived” although it should be noted that stress is a very important factor in the irritable colon, in fact It is one of the main triggers of symptoms.

For example, when we are absent or when we have a concern we can feel cramping, which can accelerate bowel movement and consequently modify our habits.

The irritable bowel is more frequent in women; it is a double proportion in relation to men. What is this about? Mainly, to customs. Although women, in general, take more care of their eating habits, the reality is that they leave large periods of time without eating and this must be added that they undergo more diets to lose weight, so they constantly alter their diet.

Diet to Control Colitis:

Of course, the diet is a key piece in the recovery, certain foods such as coffee, irritants such as chili (in all its varieties and presentations) and excess fats will be removed, we will have to add some fiber, Enough fluid and some exercise such as walking or cycling. Lactose is another producer not friendly with patients with colitis, so you have to eliminate all dairy, it can be a bit difficult, especially if you love products such as milk, yogurt or cheeses, but fortunately we can find excellent substitutes such as Soy or almond milk. Also, legumes, such as lentils, beans, beans and peas, must be removed from the diet. Popcorn and corn will also be discarded. Avoid large meals.

“That skipping a meal and then eating double is not at all healthy and much less when suffering from colitis”.

It is best to eat at least four or five times a day, in small portions. Add fruits and vegetables, especially those that help digestion and move the intestine, such as papaya, prunes and tamarind, although the latter must be valued because it could cause cramping. An orange juice with papaya in the morning is a great way to start the day. The most important thing is that you identify those foods with which you do not feel well and eliminate them from your daily diet.
